Style Profile: Mozart’s Sister :: Presented by Little Burgundy

Mozart’s Sister is Caila Thompson-Hannant, the bonafide musical powerhouse previously of Shapes & Sizes and Think About Life and one of the best acts coming out of Montreal today.

This synth-pop solo project can be hard to define because its sound ranges fluidly and frequently from 80′s pop, new-wave and RnB influenced. Thompson-Hannant described her music to me as “reachin’, workin’ and freakin’”, which, if you’ve ever been to see her live, exactly describes the visceral reaction your body will have to her set. A notorious performer and always wearing something interesting, I asked Thompson-Hannant how she goes about dressing for the stage. She seems to have only one rule: stable platform shoes. And dressing from day to day? She goes for “ugly-chic” styles and, most importantly, she doesn’t “fight the curves”.

Caila will be co-hosting the Fashion POP event on Sept. 23rd from 7-9PM at Eglise Little Burgundy.Mozart’s Sister will be playing Sept. 20th at 1pm for the MailChimp BBQ and at Eglise Little Burgundy on Sept. 22nd at 11pm. You won’t want to miss this. Full details here.
