Planet Hollywood are the unrivalled bad taste party kings of Montreal. Made up of buddy duo Jason Harvey and Michael Farsky, the pair make bizarro post-macho hard rock anthems with titles like “Daddy’s Birthday” and “My World”.
Their music combines heavy metal stadium rock piped through a laptop with shock jock vocals to create Second Life-worthy irony rock that truly sounds like nothing else coming out of Montreal right now.
Jason Harvey is also an accomplished visual artist whose work includes mind-bending virtual world music videos for bands like Mac Demarco, Majical Cloudz, Prime Cuts, and Tonstartssbandht.
Describing his personal style as “dumpy adult baby,” Jason embodies the colourful and wacky world of 80s and 90s thriftstore fashion.
Rocking a red beard and signature black-rimmed dad glasses, Jason’s on-stage look pairs 80s tank tops emblazoned with cartoon characters and non-sequitur slogans with white hightop running shoes and classic jeans.
We asked Jason for something he swore he’d never wear but has grown to love. He told us, “Sweatpants and extremely tiny sunglasses.”
