THE ABUNDANT SINGULARITY OF R. STEVIE MOORE.

Friday, September 23, 2011 - 15:30 - 16:30

Outsider pop artist R. Stevie Moore has released over 400 albums since 1967. Both as an index of pop and as a deviation from its expectations, Moore has progressively established himself as one of most abundant and idiosyncratic pop musicians of all time. Moore’s complex, rewarding oeuvre — the direct antecedent to the works of contemporary eccentrics like Ariel Pink, John Maus, and Gary War — offers both intimacy and tremendous power. Embarking on the first tour of his career, this cassette club master and outsider art stalwart will discuss his career with writer and long-time admirer Natasha Pickowicz. Moore will touch upon his production philosophy and creative process, and the numerous collaborations he's undertaken over time. Come hear some pretty unique stories!
