Japan’s most punk filmmaker Soho Ishii gives us this futuristic blur of anarchistic rage featuring welfare bionics, queer militant nationalists, and moments of supremely vicious high art, all to a regional punk soundtrack. Shot on 16mm with an unreasonably large cast, Ishii's sprawling, maniacal highway epic caught the attention of mighty Toei Studios, who blew it up to 35mm and unleashed it like a rabid dog on an unwitting nation.
