Volunteers
“The backbone of the festival!”
SIGN UP HERE!
Every year, volunteers lend their time, energy and support to help the festival come alive and rollout smoothly. Here's the list of some of the jobs that we always need help with come festival time:
• Street Promotion
You have to be a very dynamic
person who likes to work with people. Before the festival, you’ll be on
the street at events handing out flyers and doing postering in your
neighbourhood.
• Production Assistant
You will be in charge of the guest
lists, work at the door and assist box office and guestlist/PASS
management. Must be personable and like dealing with the public. Having
experience is a plus. This is one of the jobs, with stage hands, that requires a lot of people.
• Stage Hands
You will assist production managers
in duties including load-in and load-out of gear, as well as some stage
management duties. This is one of the jobs, with production assistant, that
requires a lot of people. A small experience in those matters is
necessary.
• Security
Big, strong and hefty volunteers
are needed to help us ensure that ruffians are kept out of private loft
parties and other exclusive events. Flex those muscles!
• Puces Pop
There are a whole
lotta ways to help out at Puces Pop! First but not last, we'll need
fit, strong people to help set-up and tear-down the parade square and
all the special events before and after the event. During the event,
we'll need help with vendor registration, security at the door, and
runners throughout the weekend to answer questions and problem-solve.
The tasks we need help with are really varied and never boring!
Volunteering at Puces means you get an added bonus, too, as it's a
daytime event - you can help us during the day and still not miss your
favourite bands at night!
• Film Pop
Film Pop is Pop Montreal's film festival buddy, running for the full five
days of the festival. Film Pop
hopes to reinvigorate the Montreal movie scene with a stellar assembly
of under the radar films from around the world, special cinematic
events, and the very best from Montreal's burgeoning independent film
scene. We're trying to create the movie theatre of our dreams for the
festival, and are looking for film-happy volunteers to help. Any
projection or technical experience is a definite plus, but not at all
essential.
• Conference
An interdisciplinary symposium for artists, fans, industry reps, policy makers, and institutions to discuss issues at the heart of today's music world...without forgetting the heart of music. Panels, workshops, keynotes, special conversations and events aim to get the most out of our esteemed speakers and audiences. The eighth edition promises to mark a true nexus of voices and views committed to an inspiring, informed, relevant, and well-rounded debate...prepare to rock and/or roll.
At the very least, volunteers will be responsible for collecting tickets at the doors, distributing information, and helping with setup and take-down.
• Kids Pop
The best thing about volunteering with Kids Pop is having fun with kids! The second best thing about volunteering with Kids Pop is that your evenings are free to check out the rest of the festival! Volunteer activities include helping facilitators and kids during the art and music workshops (see workshops for details), hanging out and helping direct people to various shows and workshops, explaining scheduling, set-up and tear down, as well as various other miscellaneous and fun things. There's lots of room for helping hands! Fluency in English and French is an asset.
