INTERN AT POP :: RESEARCH & MARKETING ASSISTANT

The POP Montréal Marketing Department is in search of a highly motivated, organized and most importantly, enthusiastic individual who is interested in working in the music industry. As an intern, you would be involved in various aspects of marketing for an internationally renowned non-profit music festival.

The intern will work primarily at the POP Montréal office in the Mile-End area of Montréal though will be required to be on-site occasionally for events and concerts. The position will be working with POP Montréal’s Marketing Director.

Dates:

  • Jan 30- June 1, 2012

Hours:

  • Minimum 20 hours a week up to 30 if available (3-4 days per week in the POP Montréal office)

Language:

  • English- intermediate spoken and written
  • French - intermediate spoken and written

Skills, Training and Interests:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office - especially excel
  • Familiarity with Google Docs
  • Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, tumblr and social media
  • Basic Photoshop a bonus
  • Very organized and detail oriented
  • Background in communications, marketing or PR
  • Web research experience
  • Familiar with print, web, radio and TV media in Quebec, Canada, US and beyond
  • Interested in Music, Arts, Culture and Marketing

Tasks:

  • Online research of Music, Art, Film, Kids and Culture blogs, magazines, radio shows, and event listing sites and compiling of lists.
  • Updating POP's profile on event listing sites
  • Compiling ad rates for print and online publications and collecting rate cards ( including student publications and agendas In Quebec and Ontario)
  • Compiling lists of relevant departments and contacts for Montréal, Quebec and Ontario CEGEPS, Colleges and Universities (including student organizations)
  • Assisting with outreach to schools for partnerships and co- promotions.
  • Copying and preparing marketing materials
  • Assisting with marketing and promotions of year-round events Jan- June.

University/College credit:

POP Montréal will work with any educational institution to ensure that the intern receives proper credit for their experience. This includes any forms, documentation or correspondence with your institution that is required or necessary.
