2006 highlights


In 2006, Film Pop and Pop Montreal continued a tradition of successful crossovers with the Montreal premiere of Gary Lucas' live score for The Golem and the Canadian premiere of the documentary You're Gonna Miss Me followed by the first Canadian performance of the films' subject Roky Erickson.

Film Pop 2006 launched a number of innovative co-production ventures, including the launch of Making Music with the National Film Board, and the made-during-the-festival reimagining of Winnipeg filmmaker Deco Dawson's Dumb Angel. Posthumous Pickle Party, about Simcha's Grocery on The Main, by Ezra Soiferman premiered to a sold out crowd. Ezra returns to Film Pop 2007 as the event's new co-producer. 

The fest also featured the Montreal debut of San Francisco's Wet Gate Collective. It also boasted The Besnard Lakes and Trancelvania performing Live Scores to experimental cinema.

2006 Film Pop feautured two successful days of short films at Puces Pop. 

Produced and programmed by Seth Owen and Juliet Lammers who created Film Pop, the 2006 event was another successful year of film at Pop Montreal.
