Squeezing into ever nook and cranny of Cagibi from 3pm till closing time, QUEER POP offers a line-up of local and out of town queer acts.
Hatched from the skulls of a couple of MTL queer artists/organizers, the festival aims to split open and fill some thick cracks with over a dozen awesome performances, a living room dance party, house party, BBQ, all-day hang out!
Spaceandtime (of Fall Horsie) will start the day off right with some pitch-perfect bumbling charm, followed by Nelson, BC’s own “freak-folksy” gothic solo artist, Rhoneil. Psychedelic intensity spewing from the lips of locals Les Momies de Palerme will unhinge after the sweetest style crooning of the untouchable Rae Spoon. Then up and comers The Facials set adrenaline high with their power pop punk hyperdom, steaming up the stage for notori/ragous queer punk party starters Kids on TV, who are hauling ass from Toronto to headline!
In between sets, catch the likes of local DJ heavy players Tamika & guest Nino Brown (Toronto), Diggy Smalls, Montpellier, Sam & Don de Dieu, with broadwave star Joseph Gabereau using his slot for something a little more the-at-ric-al and Benni E laying on the party thick, MC styles. LT Entertainment’s powerhouse Lynne T never fails to provide cream of the crop dance party sweat fests; she’ll carry us high and home after the epic, all day extravaganza.
We’ll also be cooking up tons of tasty cheap eats and hanging out St. Viateur side so you can hold down for the long haul and get your drink on with ease. Hosted by Toronto fav Fluffy Souffle and backed by suave douser Peanut Brittle, (likely to be seen rubbing scabby elbows with patron and performer alike), QUEER POP will be the first of many annual QUEER POP reunions you’ll never know how to leave. No fomo homo- get your ass there on Sunday September 23rd and help us debauch the end of another POP season!
