With help from the extended Ships at Night posse, this pared-down solo effort touches on a wistful, at times defeatist, view of the human condition - the type of stuff that guys nearing the ass end of their 20s think about. It's the arrangement and execution of this guitar wonderful album that most impresses.

'Pourquoi se contenter de délivrer la musique sagement quand je peux perdre à la fois 15 lb?'' C'est ce que semble se dire la meneuse de Dandi Wind. Et peut-être que tu te dis, bah pas une autre surexcitée, me semble que Karen O faisait déjà la job... Erreur le jeune, Dandi Wind n'est aucunement une parmi tant d'autres et l'énergie déployée par Dandi n'est qu'un pâle reflet de leur puissance. Primo: ils ont fait musicalement leurs preuves avec 4 EP et l'album "Concrete Igloo". Deuzio: ils reviennent d'une tournée de l'autre côté du globe in Asia, yes sir. Se classant eux-mêmes comme un melting-pot de genres gothique, musique concrete et new wave, c'est un amalgame d'expérimentations musicales où se côtoie le chant parfois tribal de Dandi et les rythmes électro de Szam.

C'est au CODA SOCIAL CLUB le 16 mai prochain qu'aura lieu le lancement de l'album "YOLK OF THE GOLDEN EGG" présenté par DEVOUR en collaboration avec DL Jones. Dandi Wind se partagera la soirée avec FEMME qui lancait récemment leur EP ''Bathtub Clashes'' sous l'étiquette Saboteur . Prometteur? Tu le sais déjà...

Blood on the Wall, c'est pas un retour des nineties, c'est le garage qui nous court après. Ouverts aux ballades Eric's Trip, au rock alterno Weezéen, au tounes disco-punk a la Franz Ferdinand, ils nous pop rockent ca à toutes les sauces, mais en restant bien gras. Leurs disques sonnent live pas mal, allez sur leur Myspace, vous saurez à quoi vous attendre! En première partie, Anemones emmènent leur son détaché ambiant parent des Chromatics dans la Caverne Sur le Plaza. Brooklyn + MTL = Amour.

C'est fou fou fou. Le joyeux fan de noise rock de Montréal est de bonne humeur ces jours-ci. SHEARING PINKS descendent de Vancouver pour nous affirmer que le rock n'est pas mort. Il s'est juste dénoué de toute inhibition et est devenu trop dangereux pour la masse. Il faut l'enfermer, et vite! En attendant, il passe au Zoo avec O-Voids, un nouveau et très bon ensemble guitareux montréalais, qui sonne un peu Dead Kennedys et The Fall. TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT ont beaucoup trop écouté Disco Volante, et j'ai pas envie de compter le bon nombre de t qu'il y a dans leur nom de band. Mais c'est génial leur musique!!!

Los Campesinos! sont tellement hipster que même les hipsters ne les aiment pas. C'est assez rigolo comme phénomène. Ils ont tout pour plaire mais créent autant de discorde que d'allégresse dans la blogosphère. Honnêtement, on doit avouer qu'ils ont trop l'air d'avoir de fun pour que ça soit mauvais. Leurs influences musicales font très Montréal, mais leurs accent Anglais sont inmanquables. Ça sonne comme si on avais transféré la grosse île au Mexique et que personne n'avait plus à crier au monde entier comment l'hiver est plate et l'automne dépressif. Ils sont cleans, beaux, gentils, leurs parents ont enfin décidé de les laisser sortir après dix heures. Ils n'ont probablement pas enregistré leur album sur la coke après s'être fait crisser là par leur 53ème blonde de l'année. Ils n'ont pas d'attitude, ce sont des geeks qui s'assument et c'est tant mieux. Gogogogo!

Athens, Georgia attaque!!! Cette ville représente beaucoup trop de génie musical. Elle doit imploser de temps à autre. Après les B52s, R.E.M., Danger Mouse, Of Montreal et autres Butthole Surfers, Dark Meat arrive en cacophonie nous démontrer pourquoi cette ville est aussi foisonnante culturellement. On mélange n'importe quoi, on rajoute de l'enthousiasme, on gagne. On voit qu'ils ont bien retenu leurs leçons. C'est simple de même. On veut un cover de Planet Claire! En première partie, du bon country ironique de la part des Quiet Hooves. Attention, show de fou!!!

"Ça t'dérange tu j'me mette en bob's, inquiète toi pas j'pas encore bandé" demande Canine Sutto à Gaetane Montana dans la chanson "Baby y fait frette dehors". Le p'tit monde d'Otarie est dans ce genre là du début à la fin, c'est hilarant, c'est bien produit et on y chante au moins aussi bien que dans Tricot Machine. Dans le même ordre d'idée, Coeur de Pirate, c'est Béatrice Martin, nouvelle artiste Dare to Care. Accompagnée sur scène par Renaud Bastien de Malajube et Julie Brunet à l'alto, elle a une voix jolie comme tout. Déjà on prépare son spectacle aux Francofolies. Les gens de DTC préparent un autre coup pop. Comme quoi la nouvelle scène pop québécoise continue son chemin victorieux vers les ondes radiophoniques de la Belle Province...

La folie électro s'installe au Métropolis alors que plusieurs "gros noms" feront apparition au MUTEK édition 2009. Modeselektor, contributeurs de TTC et maîtres de composition, feront certainement exploser la place avec un rave de feu. Kid Koala et Megasoid, qui sont loin d'être des deux de piques eux-même, s'occuperont de "réchauffer" la salle en attendant. On pourra également y entendre Metrika, David Aju, Half Hawaii, Jeremy P. Caulfield et les Torontois explosifs de Knifehandchop. Dans la salle principale et au Savoy pour le chill-out. Si c'est pas la soirée dansante la plus intense de l'année, je sais pas ce que c'est. Aucune idée si les gens sont aussi friands de ça que de house conventionnel à la Paul Van Dyk mais côté musical, ça va lever!!!
