After 30 years behind a computer screen working as a journalist and editor in Canada, the USA, Mexico and Britain, I needed to create in the physical world. In my 20s, I had given up making art for a more lucrative writing career. So at age 58, I signed up for a visual arts course at my local CEGEP where the professors were supportive and patient. I went on to become a Concordia fine arts student studying fibre arts, sculpture and ceramics. Becoming an artist at this age has redefined ageing for me so I see it as emerging rather than declining. Art brings joy at any age.
