Strange Froots is an alternative chill-soul and hip hop duo that emerged from the NBS Studio in Côte-des-Neiges. Since 2014, Naïka Champaïgne and Mags have been performing on the Montreal scene, highlighting the influences of their youth, their Caribbean and African origins, as well as their own neo-soul and modern twist on hip-hop culture. They have played in several cities across Canada, sharing the stage with acts such as Princess Nokia, Kardinal Offishall and Corneille, in the US in the Nation’s Capital, as well as abroad in Senegal; accolades also include scoring Canadian Academy Award-nominated short film Mahalia Melts in the Rain.
