Sophie-Anne Bélisle
Sophie-Anne Bélisle’s art practice alternates between drawing and performance research. Her work is informed by the notion of reappropriated eroticism, described by author Audre Lorde (1978) as an emancipating life force that allows us to act more consciously on all the aspects of our life to reach a deep satisfaction. In this context, she draws without drafting so as to be attentive to the feeling of the ink and the paper. Documenting everyday gestures, including her performative acts, allow her to not only observe, but also celebrate the creative potential present in every mundane act.
