Céline Bureau, a Montréal based art residency and research space, has set up satellite studios in the École des Beaux Arts de Montréal for Art Pop. This special installation comprises of a central information desk coordinating several closed recording rooms and display spaces wherein the public will be invited to record their own podcasts-interviews-conversations and a selection of artists will present their research and work processes. There will be a Celine Bureau staff member at the desk to distribute the audio equipment, explain any necessary technical information, and transfer the files onto a disk so all participating members of the public can leave with the audio files of their conversations. The art direction team will dress the recording-rooms in extravagant contrasting ways to create the feeling of privacy needed for confessions.
The Céline Bureau residency hosts artists as well as an open space for discussion. The installation with Art Pop will recreate that environment and invite the visitors to think about which speeches end up in the public sphere and which stay in the private through our participative process. The showcased artist spaces serve as gateways to their creative process and are conceived as introductory point to the many ways of being an artist.
