Film POP Presents:
Crestone Marnie Ellen Hertzler | United States | 2020 | 73 min
In the historically spiritual desert town of Crestone, Colorado, a pack of SoundCloud rappers known collectively as Dead God lives in post-societal isolation, growing weed and making music for the internet. Marnie Ellen Hertzler, an old high-school friend, pays the young men a visit with the idea of collaborating on a film. An ostensible documentary shot over eight days, Crestone explores the convergences of fact and fiction, bodies and landscapes, the digital and physical, and collaboration and brotherhood, to put forth a loving statement on creativity and ingenuity against all odds, even the end of the world. Original score by Animal Collective with Deakin and Geologist.
