Tom wanted Riff, but Riff wanted to live a rock n’ roll fantasy to the music of her favorite group, the Ramones! Produced by B-movie legend Roger Corman, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School is one of the all-time great teenage rebellion films. P.J. Soles plays Riff Randell, a student at Vince Lombardi High who’s had more detentions than anyone else in the school’s history. When she catches wind that the Ramones are coming to town, Riff becomes bent on meeting Joey Ramone and having the band turn her song, “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” into a Ramones-original. But the school’s new principal, Miss Evelyn Taylor, is determined to squash Riff’s dreams, as well as those of anyone hoping to enjoy rock ‘n’ roll under her watch. With an all-star cult cast including comedy duo Paul Bartel & Mary Woronov, and a soundtrack featuring Fleetwood Mac, Devo, Chuck Berry, Todd Rundgren, the Velvet Underground, and Alice Cooper, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School is a raucous, anarchic, stupid, hilarious gem. It’s as punk rock as it gets.
