POP Montreal International Music Festival is seeking new board members to become involved in our activities and to participate on committees.
POP Montreal is an annual not-for-profit curated cultural event that champions independence in the arts by presenting emerging and celebrated artistic talents from around the world.
Delivering a bold cross-section of art forms and events, the festival includes concerts, symposium discussions, artisan and visual art exhibitions, fashion shows, and film screenings.
For musicians and artists, fans, curators, critics, record labels and industry, POP Montreal is the North American festival that provides a dynamic introduction to the next generation of musical talent and independent art forms.
Term: Each board member signs on for a term of one year that can be renewed annually.
Responsibilities: There are 4 important board meetings per year. There may be other meetings throughout the year on an ad hoc basis. There is also an annual board retreat that usually takes place in the spring.
Board responsibilities include approving budgets, hiring managers and other responsibilities defined by committee work or ongoing needs. Board members are encouraged to participate in at least one committee if at all possible.
Events that are often of interest to board members include the festival press conference and opening party. Board members are invited to serve as ambassadors for POP year-round and represent POP at other cultural events. Board members are encouraged to wear their POP cap often and proudly!
Style of Governance: The 3 managers (Executive Producer, Creative Director, Director of Operations) report to the board and serve as the board’s liaison to the staff. Although the board primarily communicates with staff through management, committee work usually involves staff and board together.
We encourage Indigenous people, people of colour, LGBTQI people, women, and/or members of other groups who are underrepresented in management positions to apply. We are committed to creating an organization as diverse as our audiences.
If you wish to be considered, please send your CV and a brief letter outlining your interest to firstname.lastname@example.org by November 9, 2020.
