Antoine 93, Lyric Michelle and the Sheer Agony boys - a few of POP Montreal's showcasing artists.
We’re back from the wild wild South by Southwest! We’ve had an entire (mandatory) week to recover from the crazy but exhilarating non-stop nature of the world’s largest music, film and interactive festival in friendly Austin, Texas. Shows, sun, wristbands, BBQs, short shorts, panels. Here we are, finally ready to reminisce and share what we experienced there with you after a taco or two. Many of these are videos, so make sure to hover your mouse over to find the play button!
And the journey begins #sxsw2016
As always, what an exciting city to discover new sounds and ideas in - with almost enough neon to satisfy our obsession.
We couldn’t have done it without kick starting the week with free edibles in an alternative space provided by the McDonald’s Loft. French fries and sundaes… deliciously similar to Beaver Tails when paired.
Walking back and forth, up and down 6th and Red River St. all day long comes with some rewards, such as falling really hard for Brooklyn sweethearts Porches <3
Another big favorite we were caught catching more than once... Sunflower Bean!
One of Hype Hotel's end of night parties blessed us with Empress Of. Always want more Empress Of.
We even caught familiar office face #DavidMitchell playing in New Jersey band Pinegrove.
PRINCE RAMA. WHAT A PARTY!! This band is so weird and cool.
And a little Milk & Bone to keep us going! #CanadianContent
Palm from Philadelphia really caught us off guard with their jangly experimental punk and jazz influenced sounds and unpredictable time signatures and we loved every part of it.
We followed a sweet, sweet llama in the middle of downtown.
Then came time for our showcase at Barracuda.
The brown sauce was late for the poutine party but everyone else was right on time! Saxsyndrum, Antoine 93, Nancy Pants, Caveboy, For Esmé, Sheer Agony, Lyric Michelle and Wasiu made it a night to remember.
Live feeds of the night were broadcast via Periscope. If you missed it, here’s what it looked like:
Artist interviews were also held. Here is one that was salvaged, albeit suffering some glitches.
A big shout out and thanks to Shure microphones, without whom we wouldn’t have had such a pleasure capturing the wonderful sounds of SXSW #madewithmotiv @shurecanada
