Matt Nguyen is an instrumentalist-composer specializing in electric bass guitar with effects.
As a student, Matt helped found and operate the York University Musicians Society while simultaneously navigating Toronto’s prog-metal and math-rock scenes. Years later, Matt’s found a new home in Niagara’s emerging alternative music community.
Under the halfdecentheart moniker, Matt’s musical work includes a combination of composed works and improvisational passages, sewn together and presented as an exploration of emotional thoughts and motifs. He is currently an operator and member of Niagara-based record label Routine Exploits.
