I am a fine woodworker in Montreal and work at L'Atelier des Lents Matins, a place where days start slowly, with the smell of wood and the rhythm of tools. For several years, I was an elementary school teacher. There I learned patience, repetition of gestures and the importance of small rituals. Today, these learnings inhabit my work. I make by hand spoons, bowls and trays in walnut and maple, objects designed to be used every day. I also create freer wall pieces, close to sculpture, that find their place in the home differently. My work is therefore shared between two presences: objects that accompany meals and simple gestures, and others that inhabit the space and catch the eye. In both cases, I seek the same thing — sober, durable forms that gently enter people's lives and stay there for a long time.
