Code of Conduct + Safety Measures

Code of Conduct

POP Montreal is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone who participates in our events. Racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, physical or sexual assault, unsolicited touching or attention, or otherwise abusive or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.

We have staff ready to assist you if you feel unsafe at any time. If you require assistance or support, ask the security agents / bar staff / or any POP staff who are wearing an “ÉQUIPE / STAFF” pass for help.

Safety Measures and Harm Reduction

POP Montreal values the safety of our staff, volunteers, artists, and attendees.

GRIP will be on site at Piccolo Rialto and Marché des possible sur du Gaspé offering drug checking and other harm reduction information and materials. Trained GRIP volunteers can also provide psychosocial support and intervene in situations of harassment, violence, signs of overdose or any other crisis relating to the use of alcohol or other substances.

Reporting an Incident

To report an incident directly to the event organizers, e-mail [email protected] (Note: this account is not monitored at all times during the festival).

POP has partnered with REES (Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors) to provide online reporting for unwanted sexualized behaviors, bullying, abuse, harassment, or discrimination.

REES allows festival-goers, performers, staff, and volunteers to create a record of the incident and share it with festival organizers, either directly or anonymously. Go to www.reescommunity.com/festivals/ and select POP Montreal from the drop-down menu.

Support Services

REES also provides information about community-based resources such as sexual assault centres, healthcare and other support services.

If you prefer to receive anonymous support by phone, you can contact Tel-Aide, who provide a bilingual active listening service, at 514-935-1101.

Inclusion

POP Montreal works to deliver programming and events that are inclusive and accessible to individuals of all backgrounds. POP partners with local inclusion and harm reduction organizations to reduce barriers and enhance the accessibility of our events. We guarantee the programming of a selection of free and age-inclusive events at each festival. All-ages, free, and outdoor events are identified on the event schedule in our digital and printed program.

These measures are part of an ongoing process of improvement and we welcome input and suggestions. Comments can be directed to [email protected].
