Bilak

Wasselena Bilak, a French-Ukrainian artist based in Montreal since 2014, created the Bilak brand in 2018 after a career in audiovisual production.

Drawn to manual work and the desire to create beyond the existing, she draws inspiration from her metaphysical questions. Her insatiable curiosity about the world is the real driving force behind her creative process. She has a keen interest in the philosophy of science and mysticism. Far from academic constraints, Wasselena Bilak immerses herself in a miniature world, letting her hands give shape to the impressions and wonders accumulated during her research and observations. She favors red wax for its sensuality and the “naive” and charming finish it gives her pieces.

For her, jewelry is a unique medium of expression, at the crossroads of the tangible and the unexplained. She combines the elemental and ancestral materiality of metal and fire with an alchemical and immaterial dimension of creation.
Much more than simple ornaments, the jewelry thus becomes true receptacles. They acquire a power of their own by holding and transmitting the imprints and intentions of the person who shaped them.
