Hello, my name is Kaila François and I am a painter of Haitian origin. My works often highlight Black women, but my primary goal would be to represent visible minorities in colorful and majestic settings between the real and the imaginary. I often work on portraits, but I also like to represent the universe that surrounds us. I really enjoy mixing patterns and realism and creating a collage effect. I don't restrict myself in terms of style, I explore a lot. My inspiration comes from the fact that growing up, I rarely saw Black women represented in a valorizing way. They were often depicted with dull and shabby clothes doing household chores or from the time of slavery.
