Camille Léon

Camille Léon is a Toronto born, Trinidadian/Jamaican illustrator, turned musician who picked up a guitar during the 2020 lockdowns. She taught herself how to play guitar, keys, drums, song-write, find notes by ear, harmonize, compose, and produce using Garageband in order to release her debut EP "Near Quaint" in 2022. Léon's sound has been described as alt-rock and “Glow in the dark” Glitter-Grunge with full plaintive vocals that twist technicolor into the cosmos by Exclaim! Magazine and continues to impress through her handy work seen in the album art, merchandise, and poster designs she creates to accompany the music. Although Léon is quite literally learning the craft of music creation with each release, she took the time to design, organize and implement space for emerging black alternative musicians through two concert series — "Agave" and "Stage Fright". These series have caught the eye of CBC and has uplifted and provided showcase opportunities to over 103 emerging alternative Toronto musicians. Léon has performed at POP Montreal in 2023, in Exclaim's! Class of 2024, 2024's River & Sky, Pride Toronto 2026 and her new music ventures are based on experimentation of the Steel Pan, ushering its unique sound into rock. She is a powerhouse proving that Canada has an insatiable hunger for Black alternative music.
