Catherine De Abreu

My artistic journey began with a love for printmaking techniques explored during my BA at Concordia University in 2004. During this period, the works created highlighted an engaged visual language that addressed my concerns of the time. Later, in 2008, I had the opportunity to explore the medium of ceramics and was immediately hooked. It was with great enthusiasm that I deepened my knowledge of the material with infinite possibilities by following the three-year training at the Centre de Céramique Bonsecours. Since then, I have been a full-time ceramic artist offering table art creations made with care and rigor on a human scale. For several years, I have been using graphic elements such as decals to highlight ideas or emotions that inhabit me. The pieces presented at Puces Pop will be faithful to my visual universe which can be sometimes sober, sometimes colorful.
