Julie Verfaillie, self-taught jeweler since 2011, embodies resilience and creativity throughout her journey. Since 2014, she has devoted herself entirely to her art. After studying jazz singing, an injury led her to explore visual arts at Concordia University. Inspired by nature and committed to an eco-responsible approach, she integrates her artistic knowledge of shapes and rhythms into her jewelry practice. Her passion for craftsmanship extends to lapidary art, and since 2022, she has hand-shaped the stones that she integrates into her creations, a rare practice in Quebec which sets her apart from other jewelers. In 2024, she launched a YouTube channel mainly dedicated to stones from Quebec and Canada, demonstrating her love for local minerals. Julie wishes to continue exploring lapidary art with inlay in the coming year, thus reconnecting with her career in visual arts.
