Goldenstar

Montréal, QC

Goldenstar is a slowcore band from Montréal, Québec, whose self-titled
debut EP, released in January 2025, quietly established them as a name to
watch in the North American underground. Drawing from the hazy
melancholia of Duster and the introspective nuance of Elliott Smith,
Goldenstar puts forward a sound that’s both intimate and immersive. Their
songs unfold with a deliberate patience—down-strummed guitars, softly
layered vocals, and subtle sonic textures. Tracks like “Sevenscore” and
“Asleep” showcase the band’s instinct for restraint and atmosphere,
blending field recordings and minimal arrangements with evocative intent.
While the EP is brief, its clarity of tone and craft mark a confident first step.
Goldenstar is not simply echoing their influences—they’re quietly carving out
their own orbit.

Goldenstar is the musical project of Markus Stahl in collaboration with Chris
Steward, Meg Cule, Zac MacArthur, Nick Castonguay, and Jacob Sexsmith.
