Hanako

Montréal, QC

Montreal native Hanako is a versatile singer-songwriter who loves indie folk, rock & roll and dream pop in equal measure. Her first album, called My River Goblin (2024), was recorded live with the skilled engineer Ky Brooks. It distills heartbreak and hope, mixing memory and desire, into eight original songs that have a rare lyrical maturity. Hanako’s second record was an EP entitled KakoBako whose fever-dream melodies and Japanese lyrics conjure up the forests and rivers of childhood memory. In 2025, she is continuing a busy calendar of live shows, and, together with some favourite local performers, diving into recording sessions for a third album that will take her music in a mesmerizing new direction.
