Mariam Salaymeh

Mariam is a Palestinian-Bulgarian Montrealer and Program Manager for the RISE program at Apathy is Boring, where she works to engage young people in Canadian democracy through community-based civic projects.

She oversees community projects and programming across Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa. She is also a graduate student at the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP), where she studies municipal administration.

Mariam has worked with the cities of Tokyo and Montreal, as well as European institutions, on initiatives focused on youth access, participation, and making cities more responsive to young people.

She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at CKUT 90.3 FM, where she hosts a show exploring urban economies and the youth skill gap. She sits on the Youth Steering Committee for Finance Engage Sustain’s Youth Harbour and has contributed to the

Musée des ondes Emile Berliner preservation mission as the board's secretary.

Mariam previously worked with Pop! in 2021 as the Marketing Assistant and coordinated several videography projects. She is thrilled to return this year to co-moderate a panel at the symposium.
