Murray A. Lightburn (The Dears)

Murray A. Lightburn is an award-winning composer, musician, performer and music producer. For almost 30 years, he has been internationally known as the frontman of chamber-rock band The Dears. These days, Murray is spending more of his time creating original music for film, televsion, games and podcasts in his studio Murmajesty. Projects include video game We Happy Few (Compulsion/Microsoft), feature film I Like Movies (Mongrel), as well as TV series Black Life: Untold Stories (CBC) and Peabody-winning documentary Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story (Banger Films). Murray’s work has been nominated for the Polaris Prize (long and short lists), the Slaight Family Polaris Prize, and the Junos. He has also won a Canadian Screen Award and has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Music Award.
