SUUNCAAT

Montreal, QC

Raised in classical violin but driven by obsession rather than discipline, SUUNCAAT began building her musical language early, secretly teaching herself instruments and production in her bedroom as a vessel for escapism. What started as technical training quickly dissolved into a fixation on synthesis, texture, and world-building, where music became a tool for constructing alternative realities.

Shaped by formative years in Montreal’s punk and electronic underground, she spent the last decade producing across projects and genres, not in search of identity, but in refusal of it. Rooted in a deeply independent, anti-gatekeeping ethos, SUUNCAAT operates outside imposed standards, building her own systems of value and authorship. The project is ambitious without compromise, expanding on its own terms.

Her music moves between extremes: angelic and hostile, intimate and theatrical. Drawing from hyperpop, baroque sensibilities, drum & bass, and outsider traditions, she constructs a kind of distorted nostalgia, something familiar but strange. Across her work, recurring figures such as the queen of rats, the golden child, and BELANIMA, an entity whose purpose is to generate chaos. act as extensions of a larger internal mythology: a universe that feels coherent, but refuses to fully reveal itself.

On stage, she is joined by BELANIMA, who is both her shadow and ally. Together they build immersive performances that explore states of control, transformation, and tension, using contrast as an aesthetic and narrative force, within a world suspended between nature and technology.
