Bahamadia rose to prominence on the hip hop scene as the female protégée of Gang Star’s Guru, lending her smooth-flowing raps to various projects during the late ’90s, including several electronica and acid jazz artists. A legend of our time, Bahamadia joins fellow powerhouse Ishmael Butler of Shabazz Palaces in a conversation about the history of the genre in this 50th year of hip-hop.
