Public Funding Coordinator at POP Montreal International Music Festival
Start date: September 1, 2025
Status: Permanent, year-round
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Hourly wage: $20/hour
Hybride (Remote/Access to our office in the Mile End)
Group insurance after 3 months.
Office closed two weeks in December in addition to 10 days paid vacation.

Purpose of Position:
Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Executive Director, the Public Funding Coordinator will carry out and oversee the research, writing and reporting of festival grants to all levels of government; ensure that the festival’s contractual obligations are fulfilled to the satisfaction of funding bodies; identify and pursue new funding opportunities; and represent the festival in funding body relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop grant applications, strategically highlighting project components in line with the priorities of each public partner and funding program
- Research and maintain the festival grants calendar, communicating timelines and deadlines to the Executive Director and all applicable management units
- Collect and compile information pertaining to the festival prior to and during grant-writing to document and support proposed grants
- Advise the Executive Director on terms of grants, ensuring that contractual performance obligations are clearly documented and communicated to all applicable management units
- Create forecasts for grant revenue streams and advise the Executive Director and Director of Finance on their projected disbursal amounts and dates
- Research potential new sources of grant revenue on an ongoing basis; analyze proposed festival activities for potential new revenue streams; and advise on the potential for expansion of grant resources through new activities within the scope of the festival’s mandate
- Carry out or oversee writing of all eligible grants as mandated by the Executive Director; carry out or oversee translation of grants where applicable; create budgets and gather support material as stipulated by the conditions of each
- Under the supervision of the Executive Director, act as lead POP liaison on a range of grant files
- Carry out or oversee reporting and follow-up of all grants received; do follow-up investigation on all unsuccessful grant applications and advise as to future application strategies where applicable
- Represent the festival in relationships with granting bodies at all levels of government to ensure that the festival’s image is reflected in the most positive manner and where such contacts are critical to the success of grant applications
- Actively represent the organization at community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend all staff meetings
- Participate in staff evaluations, and any relevant board meetings and board retreats
- Represent the organization in a manner consistent with internal principles
- Participate in administrative duties including answering telephones, opening mail, office cleaning and general maintenance as required
- Maintain a current awareness of trends and changes in government granting agencies and advise festival management accordingly
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has excellent writing skills in French and English, with an emphasis on French
- Can work independently, is organized, and pays great attention to detail
- Is very comfortable working with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Has experience creating project budgets (asset)
- Has experience writing arts-related grants (asset)
- Has experience working in non-profits (asset)
- Is comfortable with giving presentations and meeting with partners
- Is familiar with the Montreal/Quebec cultural landscape and has an interest in politics and government systems
