5 days, 200 concerts in over twenty venues + Programming for all our segments: Film POP, Kids POP, POP Symposium, Art POP, Puces POP and the brand new Comedy POP.
The GREAT POP Montreal is gearing up for lucky edition #23. Without further ado we give you the final line-up, which includes not-to-be-missed additions like an intimate Calexico show in a secret location, Basia Bulat (sold out), Sheenah Ko and Begonia on the roof of the Rialto, a Wizard of Oz themed Be!zarre Kiki ball, the return after 10 years of Patrick Watson’s “Sacred Sunday” as part of our Kids POP segment (free for families), along with other segment highlights including the Canadian premiere of “Bam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story”, one of 12 Film POP films at Cinéma Moderne, “What is Canadian Music?” a conversation recorded live on The Bridge – CBC as part of the POP Symposium, a second edition of the music video evening showcasing the work of festival and local artists, 3 exhibitions by Art POP, 20 years of Puces POP, the first edition of Comedy POP ….
We had already announced the festival’s legends; the prolific gospel folk singer Iris DeMent, the funky godfather of Cash Money Records productions Mannie Fresh, The electro hip hop legend Egyptian Lover, new age folk visionary Beverly Glenn-Copeland and new wave Parisian icons Edith Nylon. Another special event is Skratch Bastid’s BBQ coming to Montreal for the first time. Along with the legends, POP will host the incredible new sounds of up-and-coming breakouts from around the world like Alice Longyu Gao, Faux Real, Los Bitchos, Silvana Estrada, YHWH Nailgun, Nailah Hunter, Luna Li, claire rousay, Still House Plants, and Nabihah Iqbal. Plus Skratch Bastid’s BBQ coming to Montreal for the first time with DJ Nu-Mark. And for the grand finale, we will have a once-in-a-lifetime concert La Route Chante, celebrating the unique and singular voice of the saintly Lhasa de Sela with many special guests including Calexico, Feist and Klo Pelgag.
And as always, we bring you the best in new Canadian artists including; Virginie B‘s album launch, the talented producer and composer Casey MQ (Canadian Screen Award Winner 2022), the spellbinding indie folk of Lapelúda, the solo debut of Jane Penny from TOPS, Montreal electro queen Ouri, psych maestros Population II, the enchanting folk of Valmy from PEI and the best of Quebec and Canadian record labels and producers with evenings presented by Secret City Records( Fernie, Emilie Kahn, Unessential Oils. …), Paper Bag Records (Nap Eyes, Pony Girl…) Next Door Records (Yves Jarvis, Hua Li…) , Mothland (CDSM, Luge…) , NXNE (Odario, Housewife…), Music BC( Non La, Babe Corner…), KickDrum (Bodywash, Bleu Vesuve…), Les Insoumises (Crachat, So Tired…)…Pique (Fraud Perry, Banggz…) and much much more!!!!
